Who He Is

I may not have all of the answers. But this – this is the one thing that I know.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

And in the beginning the Word already existed.

The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God.

God created everything through Him, and nothing was created except through Him.

The Word gave life to everything that was created.

We, humankind, were created in His image. He prepared a place for us. He walked with us.

And we messed it up. We doubted our God and trusted the enemy – the father of lies.

And we were separated from God because of this. We passed from life to death.

But God never stopped loving us, and He made a way back. He gave His only son to die as a sacrifice for our sin, so that we could have life again.

He was despised and rejected, but it was our weaknesses that he carried, our sorrows that weighed him down. He was pierced for our rebellion, our transgressions; and he was bruised for our iniquities. He was beaten so that we could be made whole. He was whipped so that we could be healed. The sins of us all were laid upon Jesus. He was oppressed and He was afflicted and He hung on a cross and died.

We have all gone astray. And Jesus is the only way back.

We have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, and no man can come to the Father, except through Him.

He suffered and died for us. For me. It was because of my sins.

But He did not suffer those things simply for us to make it into heaven. But He went through these things so that we might have life and have it to the full.

Because He conquered death, hell and the grave. He rose from the dead. He led captivity captive. So that I could be free. Free from bondage, the chains and prisons. He brought healing and restoration – reconciliation – a way for relationship with God again.

His life brought light to everyone.

His light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

He came into the very world He created, but the world didn’t recognize Him.

He came to His own people, and even they rejected Him.

But to all who believed Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God.

They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

So the Word became human and made His home among us.

He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.

And we have seen His glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

So this one thing that I know – He loves me, unconditionally. And because of Jesus and what He did for me, nothing can any longer separate me from the love of God.
